Roaster's Comment

Some of you may remember the beautiful lot from last year, by Ruli Washing Station- this year, we received yet another great lot, this time some washed coffee.

The “Lot. 1004” in the lot’s name indicates that the cherries were harvested on April 10th- Dukunde Kawa Co-op who runs Ruli Washing Station is known for their thorough QC and management style. The Co-op also plays a big role in the local community, encouraging sustainable productions, creating jobs, and providing education and childcare.

While Rwandan coffee tend to share many of its quality between the produces due to its compact land, but this lot we received from Ruli Washing Station has a unique, almost concentrated fruitiness that reminds us of citrus fruits and red apple.

We focused on the rich sweetness of Bourbon during the roasting process, with a very careful flame control especially on the second half (the beans have lower moisture content and tend to be roasted very quickly.)

We are happy to take part in celebrating this special coffee, and we hope this coffee inspires people to learn more about the origin country, so that we will be able to encourage sustainability and continue appreciating great cups of coffee in the future.
